Waste

People around the world are thinking of ways to SAVE THE EARTH from all the waste everyone is disposing everyday.

According to some findings, every year we dump a massive 2.12 billion tons of waste. If all this waste was put on trucks they would go around the world 24 times. This stunning amount of waste is partly because 99 percent of the stuff we buy is trashed within 6 months.

The Number One on the list for the worst particular waste is ELECTRONIC WASTE.

ELECTRONIC WASTE

The amount of electronic waste (or e-waste) has been exploding in recent years along with technological developments. Roughly 50 million tons of e-waste is produced a year and most of it is shipped to / dumped in poor countries in Asia and Africa.

IT IS TRULY TOXIC

E-waste is highly toxic if not treated properly. And sadly, that is often the case when dumped in poor countries. Heavy metals and toxic chemicals pollute surrounding communities and poison the local population including children - and not least the people working at the dumpsites, often with no protection.

COVID-19 on Education

COVID-19 created many issues in life especially in the life of the NEXT GENERATION; our CHILDREN.

According to UNICEF, More than 1 billion children are at risk of falling behind due to school closures aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19. To keep the world's children learning, countries have been implementing remote education programmes. Yet many of the world's children - particularly those in poorer households - do not have internet access, personal computers, TVs or even radio at home, amplifying the effects of existing learning inequalities. Students lacking access to the technologies needed for home-based learning have limited means to continue their education. As a result, many face the risk of never returning to school, undoing years of progress made in education around the world.

With school closures across 188 countries (as of April 2020), many of them are exploring alternative ways to provide continuous education using technologies such as Internet, TV, and radio. However, access to these technologies is limited in many low- and middle-income countries, especially among poor households.

While more than 90% of the countries adopted digital and/or broadcast remote learning policies, only 60% did so for pre-primary education.
Policy measures taken by the governments to ensure learning continuity through broadcast or digital media allowed for potentially reaching 69% of school children (at maximum) in pre-primary to secondary education globally.
31% of schoolchildren worldwide (463 million) cannot be reached by the broadcast- and Internet-based remote learning policies either due to the lack of necessary technological assets at home, or because they were not targeted by the adopted policies.
Online platforms were the most used means by the governments to deliver education while schools remain closed, with 83 per cent of countries using this method. However, this allowed for potentially reaching only about a quarter of schoolchildren worldwide.
Television had the potential to reach the most students (62%) globally.
Only 16% of school children could be reached by radio-based learning worldwide.
Globally, 3 out of 4 students who cannot be reached by the remote learning policies come from rural areas and/or belong to the poorest households.

Considering these data, it is important that countries do not rely on any single remote learning channel to reach all children. Additionally, expanding access to Internet and other digital solutions for all children would be one key long-term priority to reduce learning vulnerabilities.

Instead of dumping or recycling your old/unused gadgets, why not giving them away to help someone and save the earth? With your help and donation, you are helping our Children here in New Zealand and also less fortunate children from Third World Countries.

We have honest Tech people working for us that can be trusted to dispose valuable informations that might still be in any gadget you are donating. Although we asked that all gadgets donated be reset to factory setting but if there are still valuable informations on the gadget/s we can wipe and reset it for you and you can fully put your confidence in us that your donated gadgets will be used for a great use and they are safe with us.

Our System

We would like to ask that all donated items will be reset to factory settings so that the next user will not have any hard time using it. As mentioned earlier, that in the event of some valuable informations still on the gadget we will delete them and reset the gadget/s for you.

We would like also to request to remove your gadgets from your iCloud Account, these are common for Apple products that even after it has been reset but it is still iCloud locked. So please remove it from your existing account. Although we would prefer only working gadgets but in the event of the items being too old or gadgets not functioning, it will be sorted for fixing, refurbishing, re selling and last resort will be recycling.
